Acupuncture is a valuable medical technique left to us by old Chinese doctors, it can be used for health care and treatment of diseases, but people are afraid to see needles, afraid that acupuncture will be painful. In fact, acupuncture techniques are very little pain; besides, acupuncture also has many precautions to pay attention to.

Does acupuncture hurt?

As people become more aware of health care, acupuncture and cupping are becoming more and more popular as preventive health care techniques. However, many people are afraid that needles will hurt, but how much it hurts has a lot to do with the doctor's skill and technique.

TCM experts say that if the needles are inserted properly, the pain will be very minimal. Acupuncture has the function of helping to remove evil, unblocking the meridians and coordinating yin and yang, and its most basic role is to regulate, treating disease by adjusting the body's imbalanced functions.

It is the most basic function of acupuncture, which is to treat diseases by adjusting the imbalanced functions of the human body. Although no medicine is used, by mobilizing the potential of the body's own "natural medicine bank", acupuncture points can induce a medicine-like process in the body, which can correct abnormal functions without interfering with normal body functions.

Acupuncture involves the use of needles to pierce the skin, so a little pain is inevitable. Some people say that if you are chubby and have a lot of meat, will it not hurt? I say no, even if you have a lot of flesh, it is still your flesh, and if you have nerves and sensations, it will still hurt. But seriously, whether it's fingertip blood or venous blood, it's more painful than sticking needles, it's just that acupuncture is not just about the painful feeling of entering the needles.

Receiving acupuncture treatment in an overly stressed state can easily cause needle sickness. Acupuncture sickness is like motion sickness and seasickness. First, you feel dizzy and uncomfortable, then you start to sweat and even turn pale, nauseous and vomiting, and your hands and feet get cold. This is a very unpleasant sensation, and if you experience acupuncture sickness, you must immediately start to dispose of the needles; not only does the treatment not work that day, but you will be more resistant to acupuncture in the future.

A poorly trained practitioner will bring the patient the pain of needling, the pain of needling, which is very uncomfortable, the pain is on the surface of the skin and is a stinging pain that pulls on the skin, unlike the above mentioned "pain" which is very comfortable and occurs at a deeper level, where the needle tip reaches, i.e. where the pain is.

It is clear that acupuncture can also be used as a tonic, and it can be practised all year round without the intervention of drugs, which in no way causes toxic side effects. It is a completely green Chinese medicine formula, which can be called the "acupuncture formula". In this respect, it is only logical to say that "when winter comes, it is time for acupuncture".

Although acupuncture has many benefits, not all people are suitable to use acupuncture to treat diseases.

Back to the question of whether acupuncture hurts or not, it does, but except for a very few people who are overly sensitive to pain, most people are perfectly fine with it. Here is a little secret: the more nervous you are, the more painful it is, and the more relaxed you are, the less painful it is. It is important to relax with acupuncture treatments. Relaxation not only reduces your pain but also enhances the effect of the needles, soothing the flow of Qi and blood and making your body and mind feel relaxed. There are often people in the clinic who snore within two minutes of the needles being stuck in, and that is when they are truly relaxed and enjoying the treatment.

Four types of people are contraindicated for acupuncture.

  • 1, diabetic people: because of the high blood sugar of diabetic patients, once the formation of wounds, even a small acupuncture needle eye, it is not easy to heal, if you ignore the handling of the needle mouth or control diet, and may cause infection of the wound, needle mouth, so diabetic patients to go should not implement acupuncture;.
  • 2, people with coagulation disorders: such as haemophilia, thrombocytopenic purpura and other diseases, because these people have a long coagulation time, or is difficult to clot, resulting in the needle mouth easily bleeding more than, so the coagulation disorder people are also not suitable for the implementation of acupuncture.
  • 3. skin infections, ulcers, scarring and tumour sites are not suitable for acupuncture
  • 4, people with leukaemia are not suitable for acupuncture, etc.

Types of acupuncture needles

  • 1. 0.5" (15mm): the shortest of the commonly used needles and often the thinnest. It is usually used in facial aesthetics or special scalp needling methods and is painless.
  • 2. 1 inch (25mm): Because they are shorter, they are used at the ends of the limbs, head needles, acupuncture points where the muscles are not very thick, or at points that are more dangerous. .
  • 3. 1.5" (40mm): the most commonly used length, as it is the right length for all kinds of techniques and can be used to stimulate all depths of superficial intermediate acupuncture points.
  • 4. 2" (50mm): medium length, suitable for the more muscular acupuncture points, as they are more layered and can be stimulated at all depths from superficial to deep. And because it is not too long, it still allows for better use of traditional acupuncture techniques.
  • 5. 2.5" (60mm): Longer, suitable for acupuncture points on the thighs, calves or deep in the lower back, this length of the needle is thicker than the previous ones. However, it is more effective for some long-standing cold and paralysis pains.
  • 6. 3" (75mm): This length of needle was already in between the long needles or mango needles in ancient times. Nowadays, it is generally known as a loop-jumping needle, which has a thicker diameter and a relatively direct technique. There is also a kind of acupuncture method, through the direct passage of two opposing acupuncture points, so that for some stubborn diseases like stroke sequelae have a good effect.

7 major precautions when acupuncture

1, too tired, highly nervous, hungry people should not be acupuncture; old and frail people acupuncture should try to take a lying position, take appropriate points less, the hand should be a light method.

2, pregnant women acupuncture should not be too violent, the abdomen lumbosacral and can cause uterine contraction points such as Hegu, Sanyinjiao, Kunlun, to Yin, etc. prohibited acupuncture.

3, Patients with bleeding disorders, or those who often have spontaneous bleeding and cannot easily stop bleeding after injury, should not be acupunctured.

4, Children are generally not left with needles because they do not cooperate. Infants and children are forbidden to have needles in the fontanelle area and in the Fengfu and Ya MEN points.

5, skin infections, ulcers, scarring and tumour sites are not to be needled.

6, eye area, back of the chest, kidney area, neck, stomach ulcer, intestinal adhesions, intestinal obstruction patients in the abdomen, urinary retention patients in the pubic symphysis area needles should control the depth and angle, prohibit straight stabbing, to prevent accidental injury to important organs.

7, acupuncture does have an excellent curative effect on specific diseases, but is not a panacea, especially the treatment of some acute diseases, should be used according to the situation on time, comprehensive treatment, to be more beneficial to patients, but also to give full play to the role of acupuncture.

Besides, Chinese medicine experts remind us that open-air for acupuncture, cupping, and other Chinese medicine can not do high-pressure sterilization involving the needles, bloodletting, etc., may be infected with some infectious diseases. Patients should choose to regular Chinese medicine medical institutions for medical treatment.

Needle stabbing, people are alive, they must feel something, no pain is impossible, but the technique is still possible. The ancients have long stated: "The left hand is heavy and presses a lot to make the gas disperse, while the right hand is light and enters slowly, which is not painful.

This is because "those who know how to use needles believe in their left side, those who do not know how to use needles believe in their right side" "and the first thing to do is to press the claw and cut the needle" The hand is very important in acupuncture, the meridian diagnosis can feel nodules, cords or depressions and other changes, this one is also known as the This part is also known as the "method of A-Yi", or tui points. The location of acupuncture points varies slightly from person to person. When the same person is indifferent physiological or disease states, it is necessary to feel where the best place to take them is and where the reaction point is. And when touching with force, you can wait for the qi to go down to the needle, which itself can also achieve certain stimulation purposes. And can also press to make the local numbness, then into the needle does not hurt, no matter how fast or slow, the needle until a slight feeling of soreness, numbness and swelling, that is to get qi.  There are two reasons for emphasizing "Xu in": "It is important to be late in placing the needle, as too much haste hurts the blood; it is important to be slow in removing the needle, as too much haste hurts the qi", and "The needle should not be removed fiercely, but if it is turned out fiercely, there will be no blood, and if it is removed fiercely, blood will be seen. ", it is obvious that this is not afraid of pain, this is afraid of needling on the human qi, and blood damage is too strong, the so-called "needle mixed is diarrhoea and no complement". In actual clinical practice, the choice of technique and the necessary intensity of stimulation can be made on a case-by-case basis, without being bound by this one sentence. If the hand is not taken into account, stabbing the hand can also affect the pain. "At the hands, recognize water and wood as the foundation", "short and long water also, there is the opportunity to determine condensation and open stagnation; fixed stabbing elephant wood, or oblique or positive", proper control of depth, angle and direction, not too aggressive, not too slow. Pain itself is also one of the needle sensations. Using pain elsewhere to trick the brain and divert the conflict is also a hypothesis of the effectiveness of acupuncture. However, pain often makes people unhappy and is not recommended, so the ancients established painless needling techniques such as the method.

What are acupuncture points?

What are acupuncture  points? Acupuncture points are areas of the body that reflect points used in traditional Chinese medicine. Acupuncture practitioners find specific places that in TCM theory can improve Qi(energy flow) through the body.  The original Chinese pictographs for  acupuncture  indicated that there were caves in the body through which Qi could flow.  Some people tried to use neuroscience to explain acupuncture but all failed. Top 5 Acupuncture Benefits You Didn't Know About

In 1971, James Reston, a veteran journalist for the New York Times, was invited to China for an operation for acute appendicitis and was in pain in his abdomen. In the same year, Reston published a documentary report that started the acupuncture craze in the United States. A Canadian woman in her 30s, suffering from the same fibromyalgia as the goddess Kaka, had excruciating pain all over her body. Opiates are often used to relieve moderate to severe pain, but the side effects are addiction and the risk of respiratory depression. The number of opioid overdose deaths in the United States is serious each year and has been rising sharply each year, with over 42,000 deaths in 2016, for example, a 28% increase from the previous year. The Trump administration in the US is looking to acupuncture as an effective alternative to serious opioid pain medication abuse. Previously, acupuncture was thought to have a placebo effect for pain relief, but more and more studies are proving that acupunctur
